16G is the standard gauge used for monroe piercings. This piercing is located above the upper lip and off to the side. Named after Marilyn Monroe's mole. Common lengths are 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 7/16", 1/2". The standard length for a monroe piercing is 5/16". 1/4" is the shortest and is used for those who have a very thin upper lip. 3/8", 7/16" and 1/2" are used for initial piercings to allow for swelling and for those who naturally have a thick upper lip. Our monroe jewelry is made from industry standard grade 316L surgical steel or better. As always, please clean your piercing and sterilize your jewelry with alcohol before use. Remember, do not soak acrylic jewelry in alcohol as the acrylic will deteriorate. |
